Ice Castle Stillwater 2018

Stillwater is welcoming winter and outdoor fun for the second year with the Ice Castles located in downtown Stillwater in Lowell Park along the riverfront. Hardy ice artisans have spent several weeks growing and harvesting tens of thousands of icicles to create a must-see winter wonderland experience. The Ice Castles are magnificent archways and towers, ice-carved tunnels, fountains and slides ready to be explored by all ages. By day this frozen castle glimmers with glacial blues and after dark the ice formations create a magical glow with hidden LED lights throughout.

“The Stillwater location is not only beautiful but convenient since it’s on the edge of the Twin Cities metro area and the Ice Castles are just steps away from 30 restaurants, coffee shops, pubs and candy shops as well as many boutiques, galleries and places to stay.” Amanda Roseth, Ice Castles Event Director

New this year in the Ice Castle design is a sky slide where guests can walk through the wall of the castle over to a steep slide, admire a short show at the water fountain, or be dazzled by the 16’ LED wall light show. All the favorites from last year are present as well - double slides, kid slides, a maze, and coliseum archways with a fountain center. Tickets are on sale now at with special fire performances and appearances by the Enchanted Frozen Sisters during select times.

“It's a big year for Minnesota pride with Minneapolis hosting the Super Bowl so Stillwater is ecstatic to have the thrilling Ice Castles experience again. We are celebrating by hosting the life-sized #OnlyinMN monument with lights from Explore Minnesota Tourism January 4th - January 22nd right next to the Ice Castles." Christie Rosckes, Discover Stillwater Marketing Director. "Grab your camera for the ultimate winter photo in front of the monument with the Stillwater Ice Castles, the historic Lift Bridge, and the St. Croix River behind you.”
